Japan took Britain's colonies in the South Pacific and was on the verge of sweeping into the Indian ocean. U-boats were sinking ships in the Caribbean and South Atlantic. Rommel took Tobruk. Kleist was coming through the Caucasus into the Middle East to take the Suez Canal from the east! Britain was on the brink I tells ya.

These were all merely setbacks, Churchill claimed the war was won already at the moment American joined the war, and he was correct.historygeek2021 wrote: ↑29 Aug 2022, 14:57Japan took Britain's colonies in the South Pacific and was on the verge of sweeping into the Indian ocean. By the way if any time period in WWII when Britain was at brink, I would say it was between Jun 1940 to Jun 1941
