My favorite book about the Panzer is "Panzerkrieg" A book that I own in my collection. It is worth reading. Extensive research and reference memoirs of the leading participant of the Panzerwaffe.

Hello Benoit,

Do you know if this book is well sourced and has credible refrences? A good book that I read and liked was Panzer Battles.

RedBaron,

I just check in my book and there is about 40 reference with well researched author like Lucas, Deighton and Sajer just to name a few. So, it is worth reading.

Who is the author of your book "Panzer Battle"?

Hello Benoit,

I must apologize for the long time to reply, but on to your question. The book that I mentioned is Panzer Batles by Maj. Gen. F. W. Von Mellenthin. I hope the author name helps.

For an excellent overview, see if you can find a copy of Panzer A Revolution in Warfare, 1939-45 by Roger Edwards (Originally published by Arms & Armour in 1989, but mine is an "end run" Brockhampton Press edition from 1998.). Individual divisional histories (Panzer, Inf. Div. (Mot.), Pz. Gren. and SS.) are included, as well as the histories of the Panzerarmees. Maps are very basic, but at least they explain what was going on!

Regards from the Park,

Rich

Hey guys!

I will have to agree with the already mentioned "The Panzers And the Battle Of Normandy" and "Panzer-A Revolution In Warfare" these are good books. Other favorites of mine and equally good books include "Panzertruppen Volume One and Two", "Steel Inferno", "Men Of Steel", "Sons Of The Reich", "Knights Of The Black Cross" and "Panzer Division-The Mailed Fist". While not strictly about the Panzers, "Decision In The Ukraine" and "Normandy" offer plenty of information about the Panzers and the Panzer Divisions.

The book "Panzerkrieg" is a decent book, but there are a few little errors. At least the authors attempt to correct the old myth about Prokhorovka in it, though. But see this old post of mine about their strange comment on the Commander's Cupola and it's relation to the revolving turret. Hmmmm...??? :D

Yes I also endorse Roger Edwards book, it examines all aspects of the Panzer force in quite some detail, even down to signals and transport. Von Mellenthin's book is also good for it's accounts of actual manoever warfare especially following the battle of Kursk.
