"Surviving the Sword - Prisoners of the Japanese 1942-1945" by Brian MacArthur - Time Warner Books U.K.

Compiled from interviews and diaries of British, Australian and American prisoners who survived the Asian prison camps.

Have not read it, but something tells me it is not nearly as well researched as Gavan Daws "Prisoners of the Japanese".

I sincerely hope I'm wrong, and if I am I will purchase that book immediately.

Thanks for the information.

Having read both I think Daw's book is the better.
He made some interesting observations on the survival rates and group behaviour of the various nationalities under the heel of the Japanese.

This book by MacArthur shifts the emphasis from the American to the Australian/British perspective which is of more interest to me.
Still a good read.
