Really outstanding ones in my opinion:

- IR 5 by Lubs
- 21.PzDIv. by Kortenhaus
. 1.PzDiv. by Stoves
- 4-PzDiv. by Neumann
- 21.ID by Freiherr von Allmayer-Beck
- 113.ID by Scherzer
- 19.Pzdiv (OK, rather PzAR 19) by Hinze
- AR 267 by Hinze
- PzBrg. 105 by Haasler
- PzBrg. 106/FHH by Bruns
- Die Boeselagerschen Reiter by Witte/Offermann

These are my favourites on those I was able to read so far ...

Wasted money, expected much, but the author was rather a mediocre one...

Yes, I am regretting even now how could I do such a bid... Hopefully some weeks or months later another fool could take up this one.

I even did not finished reading it, a novum on the field of unit histories...too much boring generalisations..just an overhyped guy like this Böhler one who thinks he has enough skills to rewrite the history of the polish campain

I don't expect this one as a divisional history. The fact is I made several great bid that week and obviously had too much spirit in me... The guy who bid in the last second remind me one should always give out his bid carefully.

8O 8O I used Böhler a lot for my chapter on occupational policy in Poland (I also used the original BA-MA files where I could as well). I found his book very interesting... but I don't think it mentions any Polish crimes against Wehrmacht/Germans (my book does both sides to be fair).

Richard, take a look in here

I maybe a bit too sensible, but I throw Böhlers book away after having read repraising the old Wielun myth...

8O 8O 8O

The other side of the Böhler "coin" are two volumes by Arndt: Bromberger Blutsonntag and Der Tod sprach Polnisch, which are as anti-Polish as Böhler is, if not anti-Wehrmacht, than at least highly critical. Somewhere between the two points lies the truth, hopefully. :|

Back to official histories...

This site http://www.military-books.de.vu/ offers pdf versions of WW1 regimental and divisional histories. The quality is excellent and the cost is peanuts compared with what the printed versions go for. :)

I just wish he had Füsilier Regiment 73. The printed volume currently goes for more than 400 Euros. 8O

You didn't know about it? Very glad to have helped, Jan-Hendrik. It's an outstanding service and exceptionally good value.

I bought a few real Regimentsgeschichte but it cost me an arm and a leg. 8O So I was very happy when I friend recommended Patrick's service to me. Unfortunately, he only has about half the histories I want for my project on the siege of Lüttich 1914. Luckily, he's adding new volumes all the time. :)

Well, I stumled once over it on a google search long ago, but forgot to bookmark it...

But must admit, that my interest for WW1 just grow the last two years...Mackensen, Kavallerie...at the Moment I am reading Seeckt- Aus meinem Leben 1866 - 1917, edited by General der Artillerie von Rabenau, much interesting read regarding the offensives in Galicia and the Balkans :D

A very good book; I only have the second volume of it. I'm surprised by how honest it is given that it was written in 1940.

An excellent book on the early stages of the Eastern Front is this: http://www.amazon.de/Zeitalter-Weltkrie ... 897&sr=8-3. The Austrian official history is very good as well (sadly, I could only afford the first volume. :( )

I have not seen the companion volume on the Schlieffen Plan but friends who have read it say it is very good.

Von Rabenau was killed by the Nazis later

Vol.1 you can pick up at E-Bay for lumpy 5 Euros from time to time
