Gas mask tin and straps
Looking for help here from any experts as I can't seem to find the answer through searching books on the subject.I am looking for a set of gas mask straps to go with a tin but am unsure exactly what I am looking for with regard to these (never having bought any before).

The tropical gas mask canister- does it have specialist straps, or are they just ordinary/Wehrmacht straps? We're cans made specially for the Afrikakorps/tropical theatre? Are there any makers marks that I should be looking for? Is there any advice you can give so I don't end up buying some reproduction straps?

Thanks in advance!

The straps were the ordinary WH ones. For DAK the canister with "D" in the bottom was developed. "D" means "Dicht", "sealed", the container was specially sealed against incoming sand & dust. Later in war this was the WH standard issue. And containers came out always in green from the factory. Some were overpainted by the troops with other colours, but inside they were always green. Containers that are completely in sand or dark-yellow colour are fakes.
