sniper net waistcoat and trench shield

Post by Daniel L » 11 Nov 2002 17:58

I found these pictures on ebay. The waistcoat was found in a bunker in the Kurland region of Latvia and the shield was found outside St. Petersburg (Leningrad). Does anyone have any information about these exotic items? Apparently the net waistcoat was very rare.

The waistcoat is probably a fake, if it is real it would probably had been worn by a sniper.

Sorry if its not how I think it is but this looks little suspect to me. Someone founds a rusty plate from a old stove and tries to sell it like a german sniper shield for 2500$. Has anyone ever heard of a such piece of equipment?..
Someone finds a old rag and tries to sell it for 500 $ like a unique "sniper uniform". Souldn´t the rag be rotten after had been lying 60 years in some bunker, has anyone else than the seller ever seen this piece of equipment before??

Here is a sniper shield on the field in WWI. I seriously doubt these things saw use during WWII.

Well, as the Leningrad area saw a lot of trench warfare and wasn't so mobile it might very well have been used there.
