Is it an AA rangefinder or a coastal gun rangefinder? The reason I ask there appears to be only one eye piece set in the center. AA rangefinders normally have two (or more), one for the height finder/operator and one for the range finder/operator. Each operator has his own hand wheel that he uses follow the aircraft, as well as the small handwheels to adjust the prisms and lenses. This rangefinder looks like it only has the prism and lenses adjusting gear. I think it is a coastal artillery rangefinder.Sturm78 wrote:Hi all,

Re: Id german optical equipment
Theory ....Dial sights are normally used for setting the traverse from the battery zero to the angle of the target, therefore the same design of sight can be used on many different types of gun.Sturm78 wrote:Hi all,

Practice.... Most dial sights in an emergency can be used in lieu of a direct fire sight by being set to the same zero as the gun and are type specific as they have a gratical like a direct fire sight. Because all models of guns have a different characteristic when firing this gratical has to be for the one type of gun only.
