Re: German field radios
It's almost 100% certain it is a civilian speaker being used with the radio. This would be easy enough to do assuming that the voltage output of the radio was the same as used on the speaker solenoid.

Re: German field radios
I can make some guesses on the one in post 351. It appears to be key only (eg., morse code), and prewar as the uniforms look like Weimar Republic era ones rather than Wehrmacht. The exact model I haven't seen yet.

Re: German field radios
Hi TA Gardner
. AFAIK most interwar radios could do both because telegraphy offered longer range and greater reliability while audio offered greater utility.
Why do you think the apparatus is Morse only? I am not disagreeing - merely curiousI can make some guesses on the one in post 351. It appears to be key only (eg., morse code),

Re: German field radios
Agreed. Given it most likely is late 20's early 30's telegraphy was very dominant, as voice / audio quality was poor at the time. It could be both, an my response was in part a guess based on the men's uniforms as to the period. I haven't been able to find a photo of that particular radio, or the one below it, that is a match either.gebhk wrote: ↑04 Apr 2023 12:48Hi TA Gardner
