Basically oxygen has to be present when using a gasmask. With a rebreather it would be possible to survive without as you carry your own supply in a bottle. Could be used for example in mines or for firefighting etc.

The switchboard shown is a typical smaller civilian type common not just in Germany but in most countries. It is the sort used in an office building or hotel. These look very similar and it would be difficult from the picture to sort out a specific manufacturer.Sturm78 wrote:Hi all,

The lower left side component and the large component on the right side make up the FuG 3 airborne transceiver. I am unable to identify the upper component on the left side but it is possibly the power supply for the transceiver. Id per 'TM E-11-227 Signal Communication Equipment Directory - German Radio Communication Equipment 1944".

Thank you for your answer, Roland. I thought that the image would be taken inside a truck, not inside a plane...ROLAND1369 wrote

Re: I need help to Id. german equipment
Indeed a FuG III set up in a radio vehicle, probably a Kfz 305. The unit on the top left is the PZSE.1 or "Prüfzwischenbrett". The PZSE.1 was originally intended as a piece of test equipment for the FuG III, so that the transmitter and receiver could be connected to a power supply without having the complete "Einbausatz" of the aircraft available. For ground use of the FuG III a special frame with the PZSE.1 incorporated was used. The ground set was used to communicate with twin engined aircraft fitted with the FuG III or FuGX. The FuG III remained in use with the transport arm of the Luftwaffe well into the war. Also note the Ferntastgerät sitting on the desk in front of the radios; this shows that this particular radio station was keyed remotely, probably from the control tower of the airfield.
