personal equipment query!
hello all, just a quick one.does anyone have any links or photos e.t.c. of how combat and field equipment was fixed to the straps and belt of german infanterymen(either regulation or in the field) and maybe what a landser typically took into combat and left behind?many thanks in advance.
Re: gear
I really don't know but I would assume personal items were left behind at Company/Divisional base camps in the rear and were looked after by Company HQ personnel, pretty much in the same manner as the Allies.VOLUND wrote:thanks ranger ,couple of good photos.i also wonder who looked after personal items or effects prior to an attack who then i presume returned the items back to the men ,supposing they ever came back??!!

Gepäcktross
Hello!
Each company had a so called "Gepäcktross" which was commanded by the Rechnungsführer. It consisted of a light truck for the baggage, a shoemaker, a tailor and a driver. The Gepäcktross carried the "luggage" of the soldiers which they don´t need all the time.
