What I take to be a permanent pontoon bridge is seen here, rather than the temporary pontoon bridges seen hitherto on this thread. It was erected in Norway by Pionier Battalion 222. I presume that the hump at each landward end was to accommodate the bridge rising on floodwaters. I also presume that the large steel pontoons were obtained from civilian sources rather than being drawn from military stocks. Any thoughts please?

A pair of lovely photos. I agree the bridge does look quite permanent. All pontoon bridges need flexibility at their mooring points to allow for varying water levels. The pontoon floats look like tanks found on railway wagons or tanker lorries. Another thought they are mooring buoys acquired from naval stores or locally. Thanks for sharing the photos.

I agree with the motorboot 36. Not sure on tehg bridging equipment.
