Hi all,

I am not surte about the exact model of this Austrian Army pontoon bridge. I don`t think M36 model as the image is dated in 1927. Perhaps an Austro-Hungarian WW1 model ?

Hi Sturm 78,

that´s a so-called Birago-bridge, named after the inventor of this bridge building system in the 19th century. Karl Freiherr von Birago was an Austrian military engineer. This sytem was introduced into the Austro-Hungarian army 1828 and permanently improved. Here a drawing of this system and another pic of such a Birago bridge from the year 1925. And, of course, You are right. This system was already used in WW I.
