Re: Pontoon Bridges and assault boats
It looks like it is a late built Sturmboot 39. The early Sturmboot were open topped and did not have the decking that this boat has. They were prone to being swampped when being used on coastal waters. To help prevent this the second series built had removable fore and aft covers. The thrid series were built with these as a fixture. It meant they could carry less infantry, but by the time they were built the tide of war had changed and the Germans were not assulting the far bank of the river but trying to stop the enemy from doing so.Sturm78 wrote:Hi all,

Thank you for your answer, Clive.
I found on Ebay this sad image of the war effects. My question is: Are the pontoon trailers (in the background) a standard german equipment or a captured equipment?
I think they are not the standard Pf. 11 pontoon trailer.

I think they may be Bruckengerat A http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 5#p1532257 (first photo) or Bruckengerat Herbert ( ex Austiran or Czech)http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0#p1520512. Very hard to tell from this photo.Sturm78 wrote:Thank you for your answer, Clive.

Wow those Bruckengerat B pontoons are low in the water, they must be on their loading limit. The bridge parts are from a Bruckengerat K. The K equipment used the same pontoons as the B equipment.Sturm78 wrote:Hi all,

The bridge parts were carried on Pf.8 and the pontoon on a Pf.9

Hi Clive. Thank you very much for your images.
I found on Ebay this nice image of a Stumboot 39 with camo paint. I think it is a similar model that the boat posted here on 01 Dec 2010. What do you think?
