I would say it is a device, deviding the directions a gun can face into 6 (each 60 degrees, slick). This could then be used to give directions to the gun crew, to turn the gun in direction of sector '6' or sector 'blue'...

Just a guess... ;)

.......and to think I was going to say it was a roulette wheel!!
I would support Christians guess provided we are looking straight down a turret shaft.

I agree with Chris, but not necessarily with aufklarung. It looks like a gun that can rotate 360° from something like a bunker. Looks to me like the camera is looking up. The sides look like iron reinforced concrete with more iron on top - maybe a gun dome? Hopefully it actually is German military equipment and not a spinner for a special Fao Schwartz edition of Chutes And Ladders or something.

I think it's the inside view from the roof of a turret (6 scharten turm 20P7)

Kind regards, Benno

Because of the transparant look of the hole in the middle, I'll have to agree with it being the roof...

Hallo!

Seems we have a winner!
I think it's the inside view from the roof of a turret (6 scharten turm 20P7)
How do you know that it is a 20P7 ?

The inside looks the same as a 35P8 or 36P8.....
Have you been there?

Mg bunkers.

Two Mg-34`s were mounted on rails inside, being able to move to each slit and fire throug these 6 holes.
These photos doesn`t show how big this turret was, but it`s weight is about 42 Ton`s ! 8O

There was also a "3-schartenturm" with only 3 slits and one Mg......

I was thinking of a turrets innards removed from its shaft and the floor of the missing 'basket" as the reference. I knew Erik has a penchant for ferreting about.

Nice pics Erik.

Hi Erik,

No, I wasn't there, but I saw this picture allready in the past somewhere else. But I do collect all information I can find concerning Westwall, Atlantikwall, Regelbauten, ..... and so on.

With kind regards, Benno
