Any Known Success With 7.3cm Fohn-Gerat

Post by Edward L. Hsiao » 09 Jan 2018 07:18

Gentlemen,

Were there any reports of Allied planes being shot down by 7.3cm Fohn-Gerat ground to air rocket launchers? I think these launchers could be mounted on Kriegsmarine warships too.

Reportedly three aircraft were shot down till the end of 1944 (including two in December achieved with 5000 rockets).
As far as Kriegsmarine is concerned, first of all some Foehn launchers were fielded in its naval bases as early as mid 1944.

Thank you for your answer. How about success in 1945?

The only information I encountered is that the 3./900 battery defending the Remagen bridge from early February 1945 till March 7 achieved no successes in spite of numerous firings at attacking Allied planes.
