Mystery Luftwaffe bag

#1

This detail from a photo of Luftwaffe soldiers training at Grafenwöhr shows a bag that I first took for the canvas gas mask bag used by the Fallschirmjäger, but on closer inspection I noticed that it didn't have a two-button closure but a single strap instead. Is this an earlier pattern, or something entirely else?

Could it be a bag for the Italian T.35 mask?

I checked it against the Italian bag, but it seems like the flap doesn't have the same angle, and the strap is fastened in a different way. I made a (hopefully) better scan, where that detail should be more clear. Also, the two flat ammo (?) pouches worn by the two soldiers mystify me, too. Could it be for some captured Czech (or something like that) weapon?
