Stahlhelm vents and salt shaker vents

Post by VascoTrain » 31 May 2019 20:54

Hello, I am curious about the vents in the stahlhelm becuase, why are they there?
when i say vents i mean the little hole on both sides of the helmet like this:

and what i want to know even more is, why are there those "salt shaker" vents on stahlhelm's specifically the civilian models like this:

Why: to ventilate the helmet. Bigger/more on civilian firefighters, luftschutz etc. Guess longer exposure to burning buildings, physical work removing rubble etc. would mean more sweat and a need for more ventilation.
