Italian Mine Detectors?

Post by ArmchairSamurai » 10 Mar 2021 18:41

Hello all.

I read through TM 5-223D "British, French and Italian Mine Warfare Equipment" and the thought occurred to me: "I have never seen anything on French or Italian mine detectors. Now, said technical manual made a point of saying the French detectors were awful, so that gives me the impression they did not see wide use in action, which probably explains why I cannot find a single photo of the SFR-441. Perhaps that lends credence to my point. However, on the Italians, the technical manual just calls it "Italian Mine Detector 565" and search queries for that do not turn up anything at all. Does anyone have any additional information on Italian mine detection efforts?

There are three sorts of people; those who are alive, those who are dead, and those who are at sea.
