Diamond / rhombus sign ships Neptune / Overlord Omaha

Hello, does anyone knows the meaning of the diamond / rhombus signs that where used on the assault schips that take part of Neptune/Overlord at D-day on Omaha beach.

They designated which beach the landing craft were going to. Blue is Ohama, white Utah. The British / Commonwealth beaches used a different scheme to the same effect.

Supposedly from Omaha based on “sign” colour if mr. Gardner is correct

This would make your pictures (with white “signs”) the Utah landing.

All my pictures are Omaha. The LCT(A) 2008 is also Omaha, lost the bow at 6 june 44.

Well, in that case white and blue was probably used on both beaches. Just a thought as I know too little pn the subject besides finding the colour photo with the dark rhombus interesting.
