Hello, does anyone knows the meaning of the diamond / rhombus signs that where used on the assault schips that take part of Neptune/Overlord at D-day on Omaha beach.

They designated which beach the landing craft were going to. Blue is Ohama, white Utah. The British / Commonwealth beaches used a different scheme to the same effect.

All my pictures are Omaha. The LCT(A) 2008 is also Omaha, lost the bow at 6 june 44.

Well, in that case white and blue was probably used on both beaches. Just a thought as I know too little pn the subject besides finding the colour photo with the dark rhombus interesting.
