According to the collectionneur they were owned by a "Schwere Panzer Abteilung" which was installed in the North Françe.

I recently aquired a pair of 8x24 binoculairs from my grandfather (he turns 93 this year) im trying to figure out what it was made for.

Purchased job lot of assorted non military stuff at an auction.
Among the stuff was various WW2 German lighters, 1945 Kodak Retina1 camera and a pair of WW2 German field glasses.

covering looks like the black rice type, not leather
No reticule markings
It has brown leather strap, brown leather eye covering and brown leather tunic clip. Compared to most on ebay its in great condition.

The auction was near Glasgow Scotland, and the job lot looked the estate of someone deceased.
Anyone identify the make, age etc from the description if possible?

My son purchased a pair of Dienstglas 6X30 field glasses. Markings are #92527,H/6400 on right side, Left side ddx KF.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi you have a mid war example of a binocular by voightlander,ddx beibng the code for this firm,the germans used codes on most of their equipement during the war to try and hide the firms and their locations, thew H/6400 means that there should be a range estimating graticule in the right hand occular i hope this helps you

I recently acquired these binoculars from my brother's estate. It belonged to our father, who served in WW2 in the US Army Air Force. How he came into possession of them is unknown to me.

I'm having a clear-out, I'll be downsizing soon, and need space and cash!

I came across this thread looking for info on these bins, "liberated" by my father from stores at Friedrichshafen, post war - 1945 I believe.

Unlike many, I have some provenance for these, and think that I may be able to fill in some gaps.

While it has been 70 years since my father got these, they have had very little use since the early 60s.

I was puzzled to see that they had been re-painted at some point - my dad would NOT have done this. Despite the fact that they are early war serial number (can someone date this from Seeger's book for me?) the paint must have been intact in '45, although the rice(?) finish has been chipped. The penny dropped! these were in Kriegsmarine stores after reconditioning as were hundreds of other pairs - my father chose a non-Swastika pair, he was Admiralty and felt greater affinity with KM than SS WM or LW. He, and his KM aquaintances were immensely proud of KM avoiding wholesale adoption of the Swastika.

We perhaps have an exagerated sense of German and Nazi efficiency, towards the end of WW2 things were going "to Hell in a handcart" KM would be collecting stuff from all over to re-purpose, and probably would not, at that time, have rejected Swastika marked bins, rifles or anything else, if they thought that they could re-use in the expected Western advance to defeat the Soviet Communists.If your dad/grandpa collected KM bins from an SS Panzer unit late in '44 or in early '45, I for one am not surprised. I met at least one Tommy who used a Schmeisser...
