My next try was going to be a Peenemünde arrow shell! But "terror" mmm, may have to think some more!

Rusty to a point of non-functional but still recognisable... 8-)

Correct!

An open and closed early model K98 metal flip-up muzzle covers.
Both and a few more in worse condition found a few kilometres from
where I live.
