Re: The official AHF other equipment quiz thread
Hi there Robb!
Correct, it it a "Y" shaped bomb aimer used in the Bambuster raids.
Nearly the same technique was used for determining correct altitude.
A good illustration of how the aimer works can be seen here http://www.thedambusters.org.uk/sight.html
together with a load of other information on the raids.
All yours Robb, and Happy Holidays to you and fellow forum members.

Re: The official AHF other equipment quiz thread
Thanks Waleed,
Spent with family and friends, 11 days off work, work for 5 days then 7 weeks leave!
Next Question: In late 1940, after recovering the prototype developed by the French vehicle designer Adolphe Kégresse from the Seine River, the Wehrmacht's ordnance office directed the Carl F.W. Borgward automotive company of Bremen, Germany to develop a similar vehicle. Name?
Best wishes to all
regards Robb

SdKfz. 302 Sonderkraftfahrzeug or more commonly known as
the Leichter Ladungsträger and popularly known as the Goliath.

Re: The official AHF other equipment quiz thread
Well Robb, an awful lot of clues gives quick answers (in my book).
Actually not quite true in this case as I knew the answer
Try this one next. Not as easy as it might look...

Re: The official AHF other equipment quiz thread
Sorry again varjag. No V1 or 2 here!
Size is about the same as a V1 though
A guidance system or gyro of some sort. Closer!
Question is who steers what and where? And what this could do
and how it was done...

Well varjag, as long as you're the only runner and a curious one I'll keep the images coming...
Correct, someone is steering... The victim! So forget the missiles
Let's close up the "inside" with a brass dome.
Hand should also give you an idea of diameter. waleed
