Hi there Robb!

Correct, it it a "Y" shaped bomb aimer used in the Bambuster raids.
Nearly the same technique was used for determining correct altitude.

I would think it is the...
SdKfz. 302 Sonderkraftfahrzeug or more commonly known as
the Leichter Ladungsträger and popularly known as the Goliath.

I still make it a part of a guidance system, a gyro of some sort??? Which means a 'steerable' object. V-1 or V-2???

OK - 'someone' is steering...IOW it ain't inertia navigation.... Leaves several possibilities. First to hand is Fritz-X, but could be Hs 293 or even 'Schmetterling'??? Sorry for the shotgun blast - but I seem to be the only runner in this race - and - I am curious , Varjag
