Adolf Hitler Portrait Picture, fake??

#1

Post by BodhiEtheridge » 11 Dec 2019, 04:15

Photographs and paper items are far from what I normally collect, this image I bought a while ago and I never really new much about it. The image itself is all black and white, the surface of the image is a shiny reflective surface which has cracked and torn in places.

The image itself measures 10 inches by 8 inches(25.4 cm by 20.32 cm)

Not really a fake, but a fairly recent picture of the picture IMO..... loss of sharpness and overall quality says reprint....
check for a watermark or trademark in the paper, but thats only the first obvious check, hit it with a blacklight if you have one, newer paper will glow due to changes in the paper making process. And super gloss paper also very untypical.

This is a fairly well known and portrait of "A.H.", used in many books and magizines and from the photographers studio. This may be a H.Hoffmann picture, if so, would be well marked on reverse.

Hello thanks for the reply I do believe it is a reprint of the original photo but could it be a reprint of the correct time period. For instance to sell to the public during the Third Reich time?
Here are some better images of the front, back, and back under a black light

The black light showed a slightly darker purple color than in the image shown
Thanks,
