From October 1943 it was the 2. Company of the Schwere Panzerabteilung 508 (s.Pz.Abt. 508) = heavy tank department 508.

Many thanks to History1 and Hucks216. I have the Army Photograph Album of Gustav Hertag and know he was in Panzers from Poland, Lake Ladoga, North Africa, France and Italy.
Thanks again guys.

Dear Peter,

I am the partner of one of the grand childrens of Gustav Hertag, we live in Switzerland. We would be immensly interrested in hearing more about the fate of the Army Photograph Album of Gustav Hertag if it still exists, and more generally about his story. Thanks a million for reaching out if it is still possible. Best wishes.
