Original photo of German Soldiers, Edelweiss visible

Post by Heartfeltzero » 23 Jun 2022 05:12

Original photo from my collection. I’m not super sure what group/unit/branch they may have been. You can spot an edelweiss on the cap of one of them. If anyone can determine that I would be grateful. Otherwise just an interesting photo.

Hi Heartfeltzero,

I agree with von thoma, by the way an interesting photo...

Almost all men wear the typical wedge pants (Keilhosen) for the winter time, as well as the winter lace-up shoes. (Gebirgsstiefel)
The men lying on the ground, presumably participants on a "Biathlon" shooting range, use the military sport rifle (Wehrsportgewehr) in .22 caliber to shoot at the targets.

KK. Wehrsportgewehr Kal. 22: https://www.lauritz.com/de/auktion/kk-w ... /i3403576/

Thanks for sharing, nice photo...

P.S. Is there an inscription on the back, any stamps, numbers, etc.?

That's a pity, maybe you can digitize the photo again in a slightly better quality on a flatbed scanner.

The photo is really interesting, probably a training session for the 1936 Olympics...
A better view of the "officials" in the background would be interesting ?

The photo is good, it just needs some post-processing.

Thanks again, and happy weekend! :milwink:

Hans

P.S. If you, as a photo collector, are not yet using a flatbed scanner, then I highly recommend it, the results will surprise you, you will definitely not regret this purchase...
