I find it particularly nice that you have kept with the 'tone' of the picture, that is-it looks like the color film from the time period, not a new version that I have seen used that makes it look like modern re-enactment.Although they are good at reversing what you do,making new pictures look old! Thanks for the pictures,I look forward for more.It is also nice to see you have chosen the more typical shots, not the more dramatic ones. ---bil

Thankyou. I try to make my photos as realistic as possible but at the same time keep the colors slightly subdued.
I do this by not oversaturating the colors. All the photos shown here are from my own collection and are typical WW2 photos.
I have to do quite a bit of research to get medals, ribbons, uniforms, vehicle colors right and I have learned a lot by
doing this.

A couple more photos colored by myself.

Cheers,

Larry

Hey Larrister!

Great job! I'm very impressed. Is there somewhere a tutorial or manual how to perform these colorings? What software you're using?

I'm the autor of the book "An American in Paris, the Story of the Indian 74 Model 340". I'm now working on a second volume and would love to have a such colored photo or photos of the Indian Mod 340 "CAV" in this book to come. Could you help me out please? It would be a delight!

Looking forward! Publish some more! Really fine job!

Thanks to all for the kind words.
I use Adobe Photoshop 8 to color my photos. It comes with its own tutorial but there are tutorials on the net as well.
I have a large wedding portrait photo collection which I am slowly coloring.
Here is another example.

Cheers,

Larry
