Early Nazi Postcard

Post by JLEES » 14 Feb 2003 15:36

I've been told this is one of the very early Nazi postcards. It has a quotation from Goethe on it. Can anyone translate this item into English and then maybe explain the meaning and how it would relate to the NSDAP?
Thanks,
James

German:
Allen Gewalten
Zum Trotz Sich Erhalten
Nimmer sich Beugen
Kräftig sich Zeigen
Rufet Die Arme
Der Götter herbei!

English:(not literal)
Against all forces, stand straight up. Never bow. Show yourself with strength! Call on the aid of the Gods!

Hope that helps you,

Tristan

Early Nazi Card

Tristan,
Yes it does. I was told this is an early Nazi card issued sometime during the early twenties. So it does make some sence.
Thanks,
James
