Wallon SS Postcard
Wallon SS Postcard
Hello,
I just purchased this Wallon SS Postcard. It depicts a soldier with a Belgian Nurse. The card is in Flemish. Can anyone translate into English? Is the card trying to promote the recruitment of soldiers or nurses, or both? Does anyone know the numbers of nurses recruited from Belguim?
Thanks,
James

Buchi,
Thanks for the kind translation. What was the SS-Group Langemarck?

langemarck
Well, first the group of flemish waffen- ss volunteers was named ss-freiwilligen legion Flandern.
On 20 April 1942, former members of the 4. SS INFANTERIE STANDARTE Totenkopf were awarded the honorary title "Langemarck". Because of the constant battles during the winter of 1941-1942, only 180 men out of 3000 remained. By the end of May 1943, the decimated unit was rebuilt from German and Flemish volunteers. Members from the Flemish legion who were on training in Debica (Poland) were incorporated into the newly formed Langemarck Brigade.
