I found another great World war II photo source ! (...good photos of Wehrmacht / Luftwaffe / Waffen SS / equpiment / you will stay some time there, that's for sure..!...) :)

They have 17 private Farbfotos = colour pictures from the French campaign 1940...very rare!...(..Don't miss the black & white photos, they're very interesting! ;) )

You should know, that most colour Signal photographs have been coloured by hand, and are not actual colour photographs...

That goes for many other photos, such as postcards. It's not always easy to spot which ones either...

Christoph Awender, now you've got one more "daily / weekly visitor" at your site! :)
Thanks a lot for your amazing site and for the impressive photos!

Could someone (from Finland) please give me some information on the finnish soldiers in this photo:

Image
(...click on pic...)

Did many of the finnish continuation war soldiers display these skull markings on their helmets or were they only displayed by finnish special units, like the "Toivo Kaapro" ?

(...and by the way, what were these "Toivo Kaapro" ? special sniper / spotter / recon units ore something like this ?)

With friendly greetings, Sven.

Here's another rare colour photo, taken in Stalingrad 1942.

Do you know if anyone recolours old photos now? With modern photoshop stuff and a bit of research that would be much easier than back in 1940. I would like to see this done, and would do it myself but I am somewhat colourblind. :(
