Hello, I am a novice in German Covers and letter collecting. I have a few letters from an estate sale from a Max Schneider and was wondering if the cover stamps see real. They do to me with the fact that a letter and picture were included. Any information of insight would be very helpful and much appreciated. Thank You!

Mystic3334,
ALL the stamp markings, except for the "Markneukirchen" stamp, are fake stamps added to increase the value (and interest to those who don't know) of a fairly common feldpost.... anything with "SS" markings has to be approached with great caution, especially when added to a very common item like this.... same with "SS" stamp marks added to paper money, etc. which, like the feldpost, are all over E-Bay.

Too bad, someone ruined a perfectly good feldpost. The photo shows a sailor (?), the letter is addressed from an "Obergefreiter" (Army), and it has these horrible fake SS stamps.....even the handwriting on the envelope and the letter doesn't seem to match up,..... everything except the basic letter doesn't appear legit.....

Sorry.... but you've been "had" on this one.

Hello John G. Thank You very much for your help and insight. I really appreciate it! I am a novice at collecting German covers and letters ( I usually collect American letters home and APO’s ) I’m glad to hear the letter is real and photo. I will have to get it translated. I have a letter sent to a soldier with cover. Would you mind giving me your expert opinion if the cover seems legitimate?

Also, if you have time and don’t mind, could you send me an image of what a true SS cover looks like? I really appreciate your help and guidance and I look forward to hearing from you Kind Regards, Mike

The cover & letter are original, just the stamp markings are fake. I did miss speak, the letter is from "Max" to "Martin", and appears to be the right letter for the envelope (based on the name and date). I don't have an "SS" feldpost so I can't help there.... however, the only "SS" markings would probably be in the address or return address....it wouldn't have all these bogus stamps like this one has....

The only advice I'd be able to give is don't buy off ebay unless you know what you're buying is good.... anything with lots of eagles & swastikas, SS marks, deathheads, etc. has been tampered with.... if you like covers, stick with fairly plain types (of feldposts), or Postal printed covers (more likely from a "stamp dealer" than a commercial website or sales venue like eBay....
Glad to help....

Hi John, I posted another photo of a letter from a family to a soldier with some images ( placed above with the others ) that I would love to hear your thoughts on if you have time. Thanks, Mike

The other envelope looks O.K.
I can't see contents of the letter, but looks like a girl send to a boyfriend?, family member? an infringement notice together with her photos. Ticket seems legit, as dates and place match. Funny.

Can't add much..... Everything seems to add up fine. We will gladly give our ten cents worth when needed.

Not sure how you call this in US, in Australia it's: "a ticket issued on the spot, or sent by post, for offenses such as speeding, parking illegally or toll evasion".

I can't see the whole document, but it looks like a fine issued by police in the town of Lörrach near Haagen on the 30.3.43
