Maybe it's some local football game? You would need a professional, maybe by the players' clothes, he could tell what team it was and what city it came from. Socks with distinctive patterns?

The famous german team "Schalke 04" was known by these striped socks, this is known even to me, as a non-soccer fan. :wink:
