Wehrpass dechiphering assistance

Post by USAF1986 » 19 Oct 2002, 05:16

Hi! Can anybody make out the first word from this pre-WWI Wehrpass entry: _____ Prüfungs-Kommission. The individual was a member of the Army Airship Service at the time. He has this same assignment entered a few lines down dated 01.04.1915-14.05.1916.

Thanks for any assistance!

Shawn

I've been looking at that entry for several days and two seconds after I posted, it struck me: I believe that's the abbreviation for "Verkehrstruppen." That would make sense as the individual's assignments prior to that were:

15.03.1909-30.09.1911: Eisenbahn-Regiment Nr. 2
01.10.1911-30.09.1913: Luftschiffer-Bataillon Nr. 2
01.10.1913-16.02.1914: Luftschiffer-Bataillon Nr. 5

Thanks!
Shawn

Your a correct there Shawn...
To me it looks like "Verkehrstechn. Prüf. Kommission"....."Traffic Technician Examination Commission"!!!!
It could have been in a shortend version meaning he passed an air traffic control exam!

Ian,

I agree 100%! Further research indicates that's "Verkehrstechnischen Prüfungskommission"! Thank you!

Shawn
