The Guns of Navarone
It has aged badly.
The passage of time has also damaged the movie " The Bridge on the River Kwai ", but it's definitely a better movie
" The right to believe is the right of those who don't know "

The sea wolves is so bad that you just have to see it for laughter value.

A painfully long video game commercial disguised as a WWII movie called "Fury". The shallowest of all.

(Note: "Inglorious Basterds" is not a WWII movie, it's a Tarantino film - a genre of its own.)

Cheers,
Ivan

Agree with Ivan about IB - I only viewed it
because I like Christophe Waltz’s acting.
Tarantino is a weird guy but his films give
Waltz an opportunity to display his talent.

Stalin's present for his 70th birthday: THE FALL OF BERLIN (1949).

Stalin as a superman who can straighten out one man's life in less than a minute, a Churchill as a mustache-twirler, and an FDR as a simple-minded palooka who's barely in the world.

The most bizarre part, though, is Hitler's marriage scene, where he and Eva stroll around the bunker before they take their poison at their wedding supper. Meanwhile the Wedding March plays as a subway floods on Hitler's orders and his secretary grieves her slain son in the rubble of Berlin's streets.

Battle of the Bulge
Midway
Pearl Harbor
U-571

I watched "Fireball Forward" for the first time in years to see if it was as bad as I once thought it was, but it was mildly entertaining for the most part with a few instances of genuinely bad acting. Fans of Loretta Swit will be happy to know that she makes a very brief appearance. The movie is available on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOKIV_Pt0E0

I don't get it how someone can add Fury to the list of bad war movies. If nothing else, it's entertaining and nowhere near the "qualities" of let's say Battle of the Bulge. This movie certainly doesn't deserve to be here.

Well I like this movie. Probably it is not good from the real history side but as an action movie it is good for me.

I think it is because of how absurd it would have been... Germans continuously walking into fire. The panzerfaust only killing one guy was weird too.

Yeah, the final battle was a bit over the top, but it's a movie. Then you can as well say that Bridge on the River Kwai is a bad movie. As much as I love the movie, I can't help myself, but think that the ending lacks a lot from what we call professional filmmaking. Remember how one member of the comando unit "disables" a Japanese soldier simply by throwing him in the water? You can even see him in the next scene, still living and moving.

As was already mentioned, "Fury" is just a (painfully) long video game commercial (to be more precise: for the "World of Tanks" game) and there's really nothing else that needs to be said about it. It's The worst war movie merely because it's not even a proper movie but a shallow commercial made for the matching audience.

Note: One can compare new movies with the old ones only to an extent. The standards were different. Back in the day, people didn't care much about the accuracy of outfits end equipment, language and so on, they used their imagination for everything that was missing. The movies were often quite cheesy and historically inaccurate, but that was completely acceptable at the time. Many of those movies still had value, provoking positive/strong emotions. But the bar has been raised in the meantime and such filmmaking is no longer acceptable. However, nowadays, most filmmakers are focusing on the opposite - the outfit and equipment accuracy - provoking no emotions whatsoever. Dressing up in a historically accurate outfit is not what makes a good war movie. Sadly, it seems that only a handful of modern directors are aware of that or care about it.

Cheers,
Ivan
