The famous battle at the "Düppeler Schanzen" comes to mind, April 18th, 1864.

Yes, you did miss an ok tv-series and a follow-up movie.
“1864” is the title of both as far as I remember.
I guess the white armbands and prussian/austrian flag were good clues. Over to you.
