The german movie from the year 1955 was "Des Teufels General", Viktor de Kowa as SS-Gruppenführer Schmidt-Lausitz.
Nasty, and also excellent performance, as a SS rogue, so far not surpassed...

Good film, first-class actors, lots of period color of the city of Berlin during the Weimar Republic.
Would love to see again, the film was unfortunately rarely repeated...
