Cave Metrix: Basic Cave Tactics
1. Image 1: The Japanese Board 42 Level Two Hill Cave Complex /Cave Covered Arcs are placed to the South, keeping all Caves Hidden from
U S Line of Sight.
a. U S Units at Level One Setup on Road, Line of Sight is Blocked by Dense Jungle Terrain Hex, that fills Entire Hex extends over Hexsides,
Jungle Terrain is Level Two.
2. Cave Counter/Cave: Cave Counter is the " Structure" over the Cave, The Cave is like the Cellar/Basement of Building.
Units inside Cave, may only Fire Directly thru the Cave Covered Arc, may not fire at Opposing Units that are ON TOP of the
Cave Counter. Opposing Unit ON TOP of Cave Counter, can SEE DOWN, locate any all Cave , in that Hill Hex Crestline, Opposing Unit
may Throw a DC from ON TOP down into Cave Covered Arc, Entry Hex.
3. Cave Counter Setup on Level Two Hill Hex, The Cave Covered Arc Entry Hex, (like a Cellar) is at a Lower Level/Level One of the Level Two Hill
Hex.
4. Units inside a Cave can see to Lower Levels from Cave Level One Covered Arc, if there is graduated Slope, Level 1 Crestline, directly to Level
0 Ground. A Cave Counter at level 3 Hill, Cave Covered Arc Level 2, could see to Lower Levels/Level 1 to Level 0 if there is a graduated Slope
that follows consecutive , Level 2/Level 1/Level O.
4. Before attacking Cave, the Cave Must be in Line of Sight of Opposing Units, and then that Cave must be designated as the target.
a. Cave must be attacked Thru the Cave Covered Arc.
5. Cave Counter Dead Space/Blind Spot is when an Opposing Unit is ON TOP of Cave Counter Looing DOWN.

Board 46 U S Units can See Level Two Hill Top, but cannot See Cave COVERED ARC on Reverse Slope Setup.
U S Units would have to have LOS to the Cave Covered Arc to Attack that Cave. In this Case a Unit would have to move
to Top of Level Two Hill, to then Look Down to See Cave Entry Hex/Covered Arc/ Then Designate that Cave as Target to
Throw a DC into

U S O/B : Each Turn dr Unit Received, is automatically added to any U S Unit Counter already in Play

U S Plan of Action: 60 mm Mortars place WP on forward Slope of First Level 2 Hill, if maintaining Rate of Fire and being First Prep Fire action to place Smoke by making DR less than 7, if 7 is Rolled, Mortar is out of WP Smoke for rest of Game.
If 60mm Mortars maintain Rate of Fire they may continue to place Smoke , if DR is Less than 60mm Special Ammo # 7
then the Mortars will attempt to place WP on Japanese Pillboxes, and any Japanese Guns on The Ridge.
U S Sherman M 4, start Game Crew exposed and can also attempt to Place WP or Smoke, WP # 7 Smoke Round #5,
Sherman Must make DR 7 or less and 5 or less to Place WP Smoke, using Area Target Type, uses all Direct Fire Weapon Rate of Fire
with the same results as Mortars of rolling 7 or 5 result would be last Round of that Ammo Type, if a DR is MORE than 7 or 5, the Weapon has no such
special ammo.
Demo Charge USE: If U S Leader can get to Top of Level 2 Hill, the Leader would then Have Line of Sight to All Japanese Caves on Reverse Slope,
and can throw Demo Charge From Above, and on dr 3 or less DC Lands in Cave at 30 Fire Power, with NO + 4 Cave TEM, if dr is 4-5-6 DC Lands at Level One Base of Level 2 Hell Cave Entry Hex and Explodes +4 Cave TEM Applied
Japanese Plan: After U S Place Smoke Screen this will give Units in Cave Complex 1 and Cave Complex 2 the option to Use the U S Smoke to make
move Thru the Smoke to Counterattack.
