Weapons :: American :: Blades :: Cattaraugus 225Q Commando Knife
It would be good to separate marketing and advertising from reality.

I like very much Cattaraugus 225Q and I do have it in my collection but it has never been the US "Commando" knife. It was the knife for "leg" infantry only. Neither US Rangers nor paratroopers received these knives, not to mention the OSS. It is thick, heavy and massive knife not for hand-to-hand fight but for the Quartermaster services to open the crates for example. This knife is like a hammer. Small exception were the USAAF glider pilots in Burma and the ETO. Vast majority of these pilots were equipped with M3 and RH-36 knives but very small group of them had also Cattaraugus 225Qs.

As I wrote above -- it would be good to separate marketing and advertising from reality. The President of Cattaraugus Cutlery Company, John Brown Francis Champlin, was a "World Champion" of advertising. He paid for such adverts, as can be seen below, in spite of the fact that nobody of the US special forces wanted to use Catt 225Q in combat operations.
