Thanks Marcus for opening the new quiz.

Here is the first question to get us started:

No.

Here is a clue: they have all played the same real-life character in movies.

Which character did they all play and name at least 2 of the 3 films.

Congratulations arcano. You are correct of course.

* Donald Pleasance played Himmler in "The Eagle Has Landed"

* Ian Holm played him in "Holocaust"

* T.P. McKenna played him in "The Scarlet And The Black"

Well done!!!

You are up for the next question.

Best regards,

Thanks for your compliments...here is a new question with two parts:

a)Who has the starring role in the second part of " Cross of Iron"?

b)Mention another WW2 film starring by this actor.

Regards for all.

I asssume you mean the sequel to "Cross of Iron" entitled "Breakthrough", starring Richard Burton as Steiner?

Burton played in many WWII movies - how about one with an Australian "flavour" - "The Desert Rats"?

OK, as I assume I got the answer right, here is my question:

This actor spent part of WWII as a "kriegie" and appeared in a movie as a POW escapee and its sequel as a guard. He had, at the time of his death over 500 film credits to his name, making him perhaps the most prolific actor in movies. Who was he and what was the movie?

Donald Pleasence - played Flight Lt. Colin Blythe "The Forger" in The Great Escape (1963) (good movie - almost atypical "Hollywood history") and Dr Absalon (SS) in The Great Escape II: The Untold Story (1988) (a travesty of a show - must have been in it for the money - IIRC).

Dunno about the 500 appearances bit - IMDB has him listed for just over 200.
