A purist's combat game?

#1

Post by PurpleHeart » 27 Nov 2002, 04:18

I'm what is known as a rank and medal combat gamer, which means I like to play combat games that either awards medals or promote myself or the combat troops.

Besides the close combat series and certain flight sims, anyone knows any other world war 2 games which allows for promotions and medals, preferably the ai's or simulated soldiers.

I've heard GI combat allows for it?

Panzer General 3D Assault kinda does. It's not realistic at all, but technically, they are medals and promotions.

Only your men. The player does not have a charachter other than that of the commander whose campaign they pick (Patton, Rommel, Bradley, Monty, O'Connor, Kesselring, Guderian, and Leclerc).

Medal of Honor I do think gives medals, don't think they give rank though.

Check out Combat Flight Simulator 3 also, I hear it suppose to have an amazing campaign.

Yay.

looks like I'll be getting panzer general 3D Assault. Flight Combat Simulator is nice as well, but I have this thing for ground-based troops rather than the fly-boys. Nothing beats moving about in a panzer with an 88.

Greetings,
Panzer Gen 3D, Steel Panthers:World at War and especially Mega Campaigns for Steel Panthers (I'll get today or tomorrow one of those myself, Lost Victories:))
I have played SPWAW about month only so I can tell that men get promoted if in campaigns, but from Mega Campaign review I read both you and your men get promoted and awarded!!! Should be super cool with deep characters, nice pics and documents :D
