Professor Hoffnann have a lot of credibility, I had the privilege to exchange E-Mail with him, he know what he is talking about when it come to Stauffenberg.

I saw Hoffmann in a History Channel program wherein he stated that failing to give the Hitler salute was a capital offense. I find that hard to accept. I can understand that in wartime such behavior might lead to an interrogation and internment, but the death penalty for failing to raise one's arm and say Heil Hitler seems just too crazy. I wonder on what examples he bases this claim.

I would wager that any real example that he might have is from the very end of the war when the situation was desperate.

Write ot him at McGill and ask. He is usually very willing to respond to a polite email from an interested person.
