Saka no Ue no Kumo(坂の上の雲), a long-awaited war drama based on the most famous Japanese war novel of all time has finally come! Today I watched the fouth episode of the first phase of this drama on the NHK satellite channel broadcasted simultaneously as in Japan. In terms of the scale, story lines and the filming technic, this drama looks like a record-breaking one.

Even after the first sequel came to the end last month, this drama based on the rightist view is still drawing unprecedented media attention and hot controversies in East Asia. NHK will broadcast the second sequel of the largest project in Japanese drama history in December this year.

The second sequel of this drama began early this month. Last Sunday I watched the 8th episode 'Opening the Russo-Japanese War' (日露開戦) on TV. The 9th episode 'The Death of Lieutenant Commander Hirose Takeo' (広瀬、死す) will be aired this Sunday.

The third (final) sequel of this drama is to begin on December 4th. The largest project of Japanese TV drama is now to be completed with this sequel. I'll tune in to NHK channel on my TV next Sunday.

You can watch some trailers of the final sequel on the link below. Scenes of the Seige of port Lushun, the Battle of Pengtian and the Battle of Tsushima are spectacular.
