Warsaw Sept 1944 AK actions along East/West Axis

An Advanced Squad Leader tactical situation using the Beyond Valor Counters and Map Board 51 to simulate the increasing violent Street Battles in Warsaw between Polish Armia Krawjola Home Army and a Special SS Commando Brigade dispatched by German High Command to Warsaw.

The Home Army equipped with a Variety of Weapons at this Stage of the Battle included British PIATS, Sten Guns, Russian Equipment, Captured German Equipment, and local production of light Weapons, and stashes of Rifles , Pistols of differing Make.

The SS Commando Brigade Commanded by Brigade Fuhrer Dirlewanger well equipped not well trained ,SS Political Unit was difficult to control at times with varying degrees of Military Battle effectiveness

Scenario Title: Party Crashers
Scenario Date: September 14, 1944
Scenario Location: Warsaw Poland
Scenario Situation: The Polish Armia Krawjola Home Army continuing resistance had drawn the attention of the German High Command. The problem would be taken care of by dispatching a Special SS Commando Brigade To Warsaw.

Scenario Special Rules:
1. EC Are Moderate with no wind at start
2. AK Player Place One Stone Rubble Counter : Falling Rubble DR NA
3. Rooftop Rules are in effect for AK Forces
4.AK Player May Fortify 2 Building Locations, and designate one Building as having Cellar - the Trench Counter may be Secretly recorded on side record for purposes of Cellar entry and rout purpose. Cellar is Fortified / adds + 1 to TEM, not subject to encirclement
5. The 8-1 Partisan Leader is Elite
6.The AK Have MOL Capability
7.German StuGIII G S8 is NA
8. ALL Buildings in the German Setup area are Single Story including Hex J 7
aftermath: The SS Brigade took heavy losses clearing the AK RoadBlock setup along the German Military Traffic Route thru Warsaw called the East West Axis. The Buildings in Warsaw were of Sturdy Construction and protected the Defenders from the Heavy German Fire.

For the Advanced Squad Leader Game /Rule Book / Game Modules Beyond Valor / Historical Module Festung Budapest
ASL Map Board 51 is a City Block Section with only half the Map Board being used
The ASL Unit Counters for the AK Forces are the Partisan Leaders 10-3 8-1 Partisan Squad 337 with four 127 Half Squads
The 628 Russian Elite Squad and 2 527 First line Squads Russian Counters can be used as Resistance
Forces of any Nationality according to the ASL Rules and in this scenario are used as AK Forces in
Warsaw.
Additional SSR: Both Sides setup Concealed if in Concealment Terrain.

The Play Balance provision for the Germans of adding one StuGIIIG and 447 SS Squads x 3 Enter on after Turn 2
Beyond Valor 447 2nd Line German Squads can be substituted for 447 SS Squads of Festung Budapest , the 447 2nd Line Squads would be subject to all ASL Game Rules pertaining to SS Squads including underlined Morale , and higher Morale Level on the reverse Broken unit side of Counter

Weekend Replay Result:
Turn 1 German Prep Fire vs AK Units across the Road Setup Perimeter were ineffective, using Flamethrowers and MG Fire
AK Forces manning the Rubble Roadblock 8-1 Leader Packing the Flamethrower/337 manning the other side/ 3 127 each manning separate Hexes
plus 3 Dummy stack counters using the 7 Concealment Counters , 3 /2/2
the Scenario Special Rule allowing both sides to setup concealed if in concealment terrain lets the AK Setup directly across the Street from the German Positions .
Two AK Units setup HIP, The 37L obr 30 Russian Counter of the German 37L Pak Light AT GUn and 127 with the 50 mm Russian Mortar
The 37 L Gun sets up on the 2nd Story Level Building for Flanking Fire , the 127 w 50 mm Mortar setup Hip on Rooftop postion.
The 37L Run Loses HIP status if Color dr is 5-6 the 127 w/Mortar loses Hidden Placement Status upon firing or conducting any other
HIP Concealment loss activity.
The 10-3 Leader 628 527 x 2 HMG and PIAT Enter Map Take Position in Building Behind the Road Block

Turn 2 the Action at the Road Block begins with German Prep Fire and entry of the First StuGIII and SS Squads 6+1 Leader using the StuG for Cover drive toward the Rubble Road Block to plow their way thru
The AK Defensive Fire Begins with the 50 mm Mortar firing with the SS Squads as the Target , scoring a Critical Hit , Breaking one Squad and pinning the other two.
The Next German StuGIII will attempt s a flanking move along the East Board Edge, the 50 mm Mortar Scores another Critical Hit against the SS Squads and 7-0 Leader, the IFT DR of 8 on 2 FP Column NE No Effect
That light Mortar is having a big effect
