Looking for movies that takes place in 1940-1941

Post by darkrow » 10 Feb 2018 23:11

Hi, I'm from israel so it's very weird for me to be on "Axis" forum, but from what i've read, it seems that there are decent people here that actually interested in history more than politics. so... nice to meet you.

I'm looking for movies about ww2 that take place in 1940-1941 in germany, france or other countries nearby. i've seen some famous movies but i'm looking for those that didn't get much attention. any ideas?

This is the most comprehensive list that I'm aware of.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_W ... films#1939

Some of the films from later years may set in 40/41.
You could investigate them in the Internet Movie Data Base

"Soldier of Orange" by Paul Verhoeven and with a young Rutger Hauer in the lead (speaking in his native Dutch) kicks off in 1940. "Talvisota" ("The Winter War") is about the Soviet attack on Finland in 1939, carrying on to the armistice in March 1940.

in the trailer for Darkest Hour it shows a DC-3 or a Dakota. If that is supposed to be Churchill flying around in 1940, then it would be an anachronism, as in 1940 Churchill would be flying in a British plane like an Avro Anson, wouldn't he? I wasn't impressed with the actor's rendition of Churchill's speeches, they lacked the power of the original and sounded nothing like the original. I haven't seen this film because I think I might find all the inaccuracies too annoying.
