Letters from Iwo Jima.
And while not a movie: the HBO miniseries "The Pacific".

I concur.

Not sure if it can be considered the "best" but Fires on the Plain is certainly worth watching. Full movie is on youtube.

Re: Pacific Campaign Best War Movie
There are many to choose from, all depending on taste/choice of genre etc. I liked “Empire of the Sun” for its “childish” view on war. “Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence” was good too in its own way. There’s several with a chinese/japanese theme too, if these can be considered “pacific”. Both “Unbroken” films about the life of Louis Zamperini are good, like “From here to eternity” if that’s your taste. So what is a “best ever”? I would say it’s all about taste and choice of what you as an individual like, be it romance, drama or the all war kind of action, action, action. A bit like asking if you prefer The Beatles or the Stones...

Best ever for which island and/or battle?
I like the biopic of Yamamoto, "The Admiral".
