Tarawa , 20 November 1943 , Pacific Campaign
ASL Scenario using Game Module Yanks, Code of Bushido, or Rising Sun
Map Board 8 , North Board /Represents Ocean Hexes, and Shore Line, the Buildings on the other side of Map Board are disregarded
Map Board 18 South Board.
Pacific Campaign, part of U S Island Hopping Operations
Scenario Title: Taking Atoll
Date: November 20, 1943
Location: Tarawa, Atoll,
Situation: After a Heavy U.S. Bombardment, U S Marine Assault Waves , got Underway.
Low Tide Conditions, around the Atoll, forced initial Assault Waves to wade ashore, when the Landing Craft could not clear the Barrier Reef. The wading Marines, could not haul any heavy weapons or extra Ammo, resulting in initial waves having to fight with Rifles and Sidearms.
Near Shore the Japanese troops, setup a cross fire defense, held their fire until the Marines were in effective range.

a. Demo Charges may not be thrown at Japanese Units on Level One Level Two Shore Line Positions, that are 2 and 3 Levels Higher than
the throwing Unit
b. Japanese Units on Level One /Level two Positions may use Point Blank Fire vs Units in Ocean Hexes, Units in Ocean Hexes may not
c. All Fire into and from Ocean Hexes , receives + 1 Modifier
d. Vehicle Target size , while in Ocean Hex, is not applied to any To Hit Dice Roll
aftermath:
The initial U S Marine Assault Waves were in trouble, with no heavy weapons or resupply available, vs the Japanese Position that had been built up,
by Japanese Construction Battalion One- Two stories high, and stoutly fortified to be impervious to small arms fire
