Strategic Picture:
Located Near Guadalcanal
After The Battle for Guadalcanal, the Japanese Command setup an Airstrip at Munda Point, on New Georgia. with express Instruction that
Munda be Fortified to the extent necessary to inflict a defeat on U S Forces advancing up the Solomon Islands.
In early July 1943, U S Troops landed 8 Mile NW of Munda to cutoff reinforcement of Munda , while another landing , 3 miles east of Munda, was to advance toward the Airfield. U S Troops approaching from the east, endured adverse Weather, Treacherous Terrain and exhaustion. On July 10, they reached a hill, festooned will Pillboxes blocking the Munda Trail, and the Advance.
The Battle that followed was described as WW1 type fighting, with Heavy Shelling followed by U S Infantry charges across shattered landscape.
Attempts to outflank the defenses proved futile. U S losses mounted to the point that further attacks were canceled until further reinforcements could be brought up.

Movement Factors:
1. Entering Stream Hex / 3 MF
2. Exit Stream Hex Open Ground Level One Hill/ 4 MF /Total MF 7
Crossing Unit would have to declare Double Time, incurring CX Status
3. Entering Bamboo Hex/Brush
a. Infantry Unit must be Next to the Bamboo Hex to Enter/
Infantry Unit that moves more than one Hex to Reach Bamboo Hex, May not enter Bamboo during that Move ,
May enter during Advance Phase at end of Player Turn
b. Enter using Low Crawl or Advance vs Difficult Terrain or Minimum Move Rule Section A 4

Move Factors:
1. 4 MF to enter Open Ground Level One Hill,
The Level One Hill Next to Stream, that is at Level -1 represents Double Crest Line Open Ground
Entering Open Ground Hex from Stream +2, Double Crest Line Doubles Move Cost to 4 MF
2.Unit in Stream can only be fired at/or Return Fire to an Opposing Unit that is in a Hex Next to that to Stream Hex
Any Unit One or More Hexes away, even at Higher Level cannot fire /has a Line of Sight to Unit in Stream Hex

Start Turn 4:
1. U S Player has managed to take the North Side of the Hill and One Trench Position, the Japanese still Control the South Side of the Hill and the Road
2. The U S Player has 3 Squads , 667 Elite Squad x 2/ First Line Squad w/MMG /9-2 Leader w DC on the North Side to Continue the Attack
remaining 10 U S Squads/ at the Bottom of the Hill are in disorganized Broken Status, where the Japanese have launched a Counterattack
from the NE Side moving South to drive Broken U S Squads off the Map
3. The U S Player may have to try and hold current gains until some of the Broken Squads can be Rallied and Regroup to continue the Attack
4. Current situation appears to be stalemate without further Good Order Squads on Hand for U S Player
5.
