Scenario Title: Dangerous Combination
Situation: Prior to U S Forces Landing on Okinawa, the Japanese worked to turn each Ridge on Southern Okinawa into bunker type firing complex
with firing ports hewn out on one side of a Ridge, from caves and tunnels on the other side of a Ridge, with each Ridge providing covering cross fire
to Ridge in close proximity.
U S Forces making frontal attacks took heavy casualties from the many firing apertures, that were difficult to score direct hits on , resulting in U S Troops becoming pinned down on the approaches.
After costly fighting it was finally deduced, that U S Troops would have to pass thru, the Firing , to reach the Top of a Ridge, and then neutralized it by sealing off Caves-Tunnels on the other side,that could still be fired on from adjacent Ridges unless coordinated attack took place vs other Ridges.
The Japanese Command, ordered countermeasures to the U S Tactics, by placing Units at the Top of Key Ridges that must not fall to maintain the
Defense integrity.
At Flat Top RIdge, Heavily Reinforced with MGs, Dug in Tanks, Mortars, Anti Tank Guns etc.
