The source basis of the ECO Media production for ZDF is remarkable. In "Krieg und Holocaust - Der deutsche Abgrund" (War and Holocaust - The German Abyss), new archive finds, private films and also questionnaires from the 1930s from the Frankfurt Institute for Social Research are evaluated and presented. This contributes to an important look at the development towards the Holocaust. The Landesfilmsammlung Baden-Württemberg (LFS), housed in the Haus des Dokumentarfilms in Stuttgart, was also able to make its contribution. Film footage archived in the Landesfilmsammlung, such as that of the NSDAP's district convention in Lahr, illustrates the mass mobilization and fascination in 1939. Could the rupture of civilization have been prevented?
