Probably the very first documentary film about the National Socialism, that we saw as young children in the 1960s/70s.

Den Blodiga tiden / Mein Kampf https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mein_Kamp ... entarfilm)

The film was still shown in schools as part of German lessons until the 1970/1980s; I remember a showing at our boarding school in the early 1970s.
Students under the age of 12 were excluded from the screening at that time.

Most of the scenes are familiar to us all today, but one should not forget the possibilities of that time, the late 1950s.

The speaker of the German version was the german actor Herr Paul Klinger, his voice is still in the back of my mind.

I too saw that in the 1970’s when I was young. It’s a good film…..horrible scenes of Warsaw ghetto misery. Erwin Leiser also made a great documentary on Nazi film propaganda, “Deutschland Ehrwache”

J. Duncan,

Thanks for your hint, from the story of Erwin Leiser you can also find the documentation "Eichmann und das 3. Reich"
from the year 1961.

Eichmann und das 3. Reich https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eichmann_und_das_3._Reich

Eichmann und das Dritte Reich (s/w) / Karriere, Verbrechen, Prozeß 1961

Probably broacasted in Germany around the year 1995 ?
Totally unknown to me until now, thank you very much.

Another great documentary I remember seeing replayed as a young man in the 70’s was “Rise and Fall of the Third Reich” with William L. Shirer. Interviews included Ernst Putzi Hanfstaengl, Otto Strasser, and Kurt Schussnig.

Thank you J. Duncan,

a documentary from 1968 (?), unknown to me so far, obviously a US-American documentary at that time, based on the book from 1960:

"The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rise_ ... hird_Reich
