Seit 1981 hat Filmemacher Christophe de Ponfilly Massoud, dem "Löwen vom Panjshirtal", mehrere Reportagen gewidmet. Aus dieser Zusammenarbeit ist eine Freundschaft entstanden. 1997 reist er nach Afghanistan, um Kommandant Massoud bei den Vorbereitungen seiner Offensive gegen die Taliban zu begleiten. Eine einzigartige Momentaufnahme der Geschichte.

Since 1981, filmmaker Christophe de Ponfilly has dedicated several reports to Massoud, the "Lion of the Panjshirtal". A friendship grew out of this collaboration. In 1997 he traveled to Afghanistan to accompany Commander Massoud as he prepared his offensive against the Taliban. A unique snapshot of history.

thanks for your comment, I think the man is worth mentioning in this forum too.

You may know, that I believe little if anything in hero worship, but what I've read and seen about Massud has made a deep impression on me.

Am 9. September 2001 wird Ahmed Schah Massoud bei einem Attentat getötet, eine Woche später beigesetzt. Ein Schreckenstag für viele Afghanen, denn in ihrem Land gilt Massoud als Ikone. Lange Zeit führte er den Widerstand zunächst gegen die Sowjetunion, dann gegen die Taliban an. Seinem persönlichen Kameramann Youssouf Janessar gelangen spektakuläre Aufnahmen.

Ahmed Shah Massoud was assassinated on September 9, 2001 and buried a week later. A day of horror for many Afghans, because Massoud is considered an icon in their country. For a long time he led the resistance, first against the Soviet Union and then against the Taliban. His personal cameraman, Youssouf Janessar, managed to take spectacular shots.
